Back on the scene with a brand new bag, Raiza Biza is proud to share a second track off his upcoming album Bygones, due out Friday 4 October on Low Key Source.
Listen to Trouble here, a powerful collab with Sudanese-American artist Oddisee and Jamaican dancehall artist Zenyth, unpacking the harsh socio-political realities of the world we face today. Through heavy words, they ask, who will save humanity from itself? The track premiered last night on Bonafide.
“The more things change, they stay the same. It's an old cliche but when I make records like these I am reminded of how true that is. The story of the diaspora is something I always go back to, so being able to get Oddisee on the track, who is very familiar with this was the perfect way to finish this track off,” says Biza.
Following the release of Stolen Youth, Biza’s first tasting of solo music in two years following his collaborations with Melodownz, Illbaz (High Beams), Remi, Black Milk (Black Hole Sun), Estére (Tokoloshe), and Jon Toogood’s The Adults (Haja), Biza is just getting started on a new chapter in his career and vision; finding a new freedom in the sound.

Speaking with a sense of urgency in his flowing baritone voice, his work has always carried a socially conscious heart, backed up by honest storytelling and captivating jazz/soul infused production as the aura to his words. Biza’s new material follows a new sound arch, and with those changes comes a newly found freedom.
A humble titan within the antipodean isles and Aotearoa’s underground scene, Biza has firmly planted roots, supporting the up-and-coming generation of local MC's and hip-hop producers. As the hearty driving force behind AmmoNation, Biza believes in the power of community and the sharing of knowledge.
A voice from within the African-South Pacific diaspora, Biza has strived to bridge the gaps of understanding and preservation of his experience in New Zealand, while also supporting his fellow artists on the same mission.
It all started with a dream.
