Just in time for summer, Pretty Lies is a slice of pop-dance perfection packed with electrifying melodies, unforgettable hooks and a killer drop, cementing ASHY’s growing reputation as an ‘artist to watch’.
“Pretty Lies is about being in a place where you want so much more for your life because you’re stuck in the day to day.” says ASHY. “But rather than trying to solve your problems, you avoid the truth and call up your friends who are, in their own ways, also telling themselves pretty lies - convincing ourselves that we are fulfilled, even if it’s just for one night.“
Co-written and produced by Sydney-based Liam Quinn (Theia, Boi) Pretty Lies came together in the studio in one day.
“This is a very fun song, a song to sing along to with your friends. With its lyrical deeper meaning, the production of the song helps communicate the idea that these truths are hidden behind big beats and catchy hooks,” explains Christchurch-based ASHY.
Pretty Lies follows on from the single Temporary Crush, co-written and produced by Josh Fountain (Benee, Theia, Paige), which has had 180,000 streams on Spotify and the single All Eyes Are On Me, co-written with New Zealand alt-pop artist Theia and Liam Quinn, which landed on multiple Apple Music playlists, including ‘Today’s Hits’, ‘Future Hits’, ‘Breaking Pop’, ‘Best of the Week’ and ‘The A-List: Pop’; with 150,000 streams on Spotify and counting. The lyric video for All Eyes Are On Me has also clocked an impressive 70,000 views on YouTube.
