Having spent years writing and producing music that was constrained by expectations, opinions and labels, Lasair adopted a mantra of 'Genre Fluid'. Not as an act of rebellion or as a rejection of labels, but simply because he came to the realisation that he cannot fit into any one music culture anymore. With a childhood spent travelling, and now residing in New Zealand (one of the most multicultural countries in the world) he found too much inspiration to be limited any longer, and he knows he doesn't have to be.
THE ALBUM:
Lasair presents Lessons, an album that is truly a culmination of 6 years of life and learning. Taking you on a wild ride through genres and topics, this self-produced album maintains a no holds barred approach on every track. Each song boasts its own personality, while further developing the albums concept of lessons learned.
Stand out tracks include the 80’s inspired single House of Cards, the albums pinnacle, I’m Not In Love and the stripped back style featured on Thinking Up.
SINGLE 1: HOUSE OF CARDS
An ode to 80's pop, House Of Cards captures listeners with its infectious beat and lyrics spurned from a breakup that rocked his world. Lasair takes you along on his journey of betrayal and coming to terms with love lost, while acknowledging his own naïvete. Guaranteed to get stuck in your head like the old-school beats we love, this track is not to be missed.
SINGLE 2: CLIMB AGAIN
An anthem of perseverance, Climb Again is the mood-boosting track you never
knew you needed. This song boasts lyrics of friendship and togetherness through
even the darkest moments in life, which paired with Lasair’s notable production
handiwork makes this song the perfect addition to any feel-good playlist.
THE DETAILS:
The first single of the album, House of Cards will be releasing with its accompanying music video on Oct 11th. Climb Again will follow on Nov 8th. The full album, Lessons, will be released on Nov 30th.
