Auckland alt rock outfit City of Souls are weighing in with another glimpse into the forthcoming album Synaesthesia, with a brand new single and videoclip - Ferryman.
Ferryman sees, like previous single from earlier in 2019, Wolf, Forrester Savell (Sikth, Cog, Shihad, Karnivool) at the production helm once again. The track will be released Friday October 11 into all digital stores and streaming platforms. The new video premiered earlier this week at premiere UK media outlet PROG/Louder Sound.

The new single Ferryman sees a polished and cohesive sound come into focus for City of Souls.
"We wanted this record to sound big, a wide sonic footprint and Fozzes work has that size and space we were after" says singer Richie Simpson.
"With a lot out there in terms of heavier music following a similar footprint of programmed drums, autotuned vocals and perpetually shifting riffs we wanted to solidify and simplify our sound. We wanted good honest songs. Ferryman is THE track to get this beast rolling."
The meaning of the song speaks to trying to fix what can't be and chasing the wrong things in life. Simpson went on to say that: "It's about choosing wisely with your time and what you spend it doing and why. Being aware if you're hiding away your true self or buying things to fill a hole or seeking out addiction cycles. I'm terrified of wasting my life and the world not missing a breath when I go. The ferryman brings the living over into the world of the dead. When he comes to get me, I want to know I'm ready for the ride."
Anticipation for the band’s debut is building rapidly - playing shows alongside Stone Sour and Bring Me The Horizon has seen their profile lifted, and they will be heading out in December on a summer NZ tour, to be announced very soon!
City of Souls formed in August 2015 by Guitarists Trajan Schwencke (Cold by Winter, In Dread Response) and Steve Boag (In Dread Response, Blacklistt). Vocalist Richie Simpson (New Way Home) found the tracks Trajan and Steve had written immediately captivating and joined the band. Guitarist Marcus Powell (founding member of multi-platinum bands Blindspott and Blacklistt) then joined, and the line-up was complete with Daniel Insley on Bass (Solstate) and Drummer Corey Friedlander (In Dread Response / 8 Foot Sativa).
