The sons of two of the world’s most legendary musicians met up in Auckland last week for an exclusive interview, and you can see the results of that meeting this Thursday night on COAST.
Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley is the youngest son of reggae legend Bob Marley, and he was here in Aotearoa last Thursday for one awesome show at the St James Theatre. While in town, Damian was interviewed by Ahmen Mahal (a.k.a Captain Imon Starr of Rhombus, Nuvonesia and Olmecha Supreme fame), the son of renowned American blues guitarist Taj Mahal. Bob Marley and Taj Mahal were friends throughout the seventies, and had hoped to collaborate together in San Francisco in the mid-70s but unfortunately nothing made it to tape.
Damian Marley and Ahmen Mahal, musical contemporaries and sons of two of the most important figures in world music, together on your television screen this Thursday night, 9.30pm on Maori Television.
A shorter version of the interview ran on Campbell Live on Friday night, but for the full korero make sure you check out COAST!
