Kicking off their debut Aotearoa / New Zealand tour in Wellington on Valentines Day; California’s shimmering melody-makers Allah-Las announce the local support acts for the NZ shows plus have made a special poster for their Antipodean journey. Proceeds of the 13"x19” screenprinting go to Wildlife Victoria to assist with wildlife emergency rescue and shelter efforts in areas affected by the Victorian bushfires and extreme heat events.
For their inaugural visit, Allah Las have invited the wonderful Wellington trio of Hans Pucket to join them on opening night at Meow. The Auckland and the sold-out Coromandel shows will see Joe Ghatt jump on stage first fresh off their Australian tour.
Allah-Las are touring their acclaimed fourth LP, LAHS, released via Brooklyn record label, Mexican Summer. Widely noted as the band’s most thoughtful and evolved work to date, LAHS radiates a skilful melding of melodies and moods, venturing into new, exciting territories.
Allah-Las seem to be transmitting from a place not found on any map. Those familiar with the band’s work will recognize their skilful melding of melodies and moods, but through that lens we see them venturing into new, exciting territories. Indeed, their growth not just as songwriters, but as performers, arrangers, and producers — is clearly audible.
