With a top #20 NZ-Album release right out the gate of 2020 and in the middle of a nationwide tour, Marina Bloom deserves a pina colada and a long cruise.
But instead of getting on a boat, she’s released a brand new song that’s about one.
Her album Back Where We Started debuted at #16 on the NZ Album charts just six weeks ago, she’s a quarter of the way into her 8-stop tour, yet Bloom isn’t anchoring any time soon.
Her new song Sincerity Ace is about a ship of the same name that leaves it’s harbour and never returns,
“As young adults we leave our parents, and sometimes our motherland, to take on this journey of life. Often we don’t go back. But if we do visit the place we came from, it’s not the same. We are no longer the same people, it doesn’t feel the same as it felt before.”
Having left her home country, Russia, for New Zealand as a student 17 years ago, Marina certainly knows a thing or two about journeys. But when asked about where her next journey is headed to?
“I think it is from one moment of ‘now’ to the next one. There is nowhere to get to or to be. I am really enjoying connecting with people through my music, connecting to myself in that process and hopefully through my music helping people connect to themselves too.”
Sincerity Ace is available from February 14th: https://youtu.be/5U4FlgAioW4
