The Settlers, a thriving hip-hop crew reigning from Lyttleton Harbour in Christchurch, have released a Swimming the first single off a new body of work to be released later this year. The track is produced by local producer Big Guts Billy, and recorded in The Guest room studio, Christchurch.
Swimming bounces between the contrast of self belief and doubt. This song portrays a struggle between art an ego. Thrown in the deep end of life, in the face of adversity we either sink or swim.
The Settlers, consist of Anthony Horan and Elias Tyro (lead MC’s), Laura Hunter (lead vocals) and Mike Thorpe (DJ). For the festival season, and joining them for their set at Electric Ave on the 22nd of February 2020, will be Electric guitarist Jin DeManchurian and Keyboardist Tyler Swali Robbins.
