While excitement has been building quickly ahead of this weekend’s official NZ Music Month 2006 All Ages Launch gig in Wellington, the weather has gotten the better of us. Showers in the Capital this week mean that to make it more pleasant for everyone – including Waitangi Park’s groundskeepers! - Sunday’s celebration of homegrown talent will no longer be held outdoors, but in Wellington Town Hall.
There’s no need to brave the rain with such a great alternative venue available (with big thanks to the Wellington City Council!), but expect to get a little damp anyway with the sweat-inducing lineup about to descend on the city:
Taking a brief pause from their nationwide tour in support of their Top Ten debut album As Sweet As Sin, The Bleeders promise a high octane set full of bona fide hits that will show you why they have such an enthusiastic live following.
With album number two on its way shortly from Deja Voodoo, not to mention Chris Stapp and Matt Heath’s first feature film The Devil Dared Me To in the final stages of shooting, the band that works (and rocks) more than you do will ensure Sunday is well and truly a Brown Sabbath.
And adding more chops to the bill, as well as diluting the testosterone, are Wellington three piece Cherry’s Gemstones, a trio of femme fatale punksters who hit the road in May touring their debut EP Love In The Dreamscape Matrix Reality.
It’s a show not to be missed with a line up boasting some of our country’s finest performers… and a great way to kick off NZ Music Month 2006.
