Following the success of their debut single, Worry Girl, alternative rock trio Sycophant have a new song out and are ready to drop their debut EP, Pop Frog.
With Worry Girl attracting more than 8500 listens on YouTube, and its Facebook song post attracting more than 60,000 likes, Sycophant is exploding out of Wellington, New Zealand, and ready to rock your eardrums with their latest offerings on Pop Frog.
And first out of the gates is their new single, It’s Not OK – already picking up radio airplay and more than 20,000 listens on YouTube – Listen here.
It’s a driving, yet surprisingly catchy, post-punk song so full of teenage angst it’s almost seeping from singer Connor Hardy’s voice. The song was picked up for play on commercial top 40 South African radio station Radio Overberg’ Rock Rebellie show within hours of its YouTube only release.
The song is a small sample of what’s to come on the upcoming Pop Frog EP, which is set for worldwide distribution on 20 April 2020.
The new collection of songs - produced by Karl and Charlie Wootton of hit rock band Merrin – picks up where Worry Girl left off with the band finding their heavier side in their first single off the EP, It’s Not OK, and then dancing around the edges of grunge, punk, pop and blues with other sure-fire hits; Girl You Make Me High, Mercenary and Glacial Decay.
