Christchurch based electronic artist Junus Orca is about to release debut EP One Arm Pack. The EP presents four powerful tracks elaborating on a sound that online music and youth culture magazine happymag.tv has previously referred to as ‘innovative and exciting’.
After playing and touring NZ under numerous aliases, the artist began forging a new path as Junus Orca late 2018, experimenting with a darker sound. Since then he has been perfecting his craft, honing in on a sound that reflects the uncertainty and power of the fault lines we live upon in New Zealand.
"With this EP I feel like I’ve found my feet with the artist I want to be and how I go about making Junus Orca music in general. I’m working more off the grid in the software I use, playing with time signatures, improvising parts and just trying to leave things slightly unfinished and raw. The EP was built around the track One Arm Pack hence the EP name. That track was made in about an hour last year and was a kind of breakthrough point in how I produce my music." - Junus Orca
The EP will be available on all streaming services and digital outlets Friday 13th March 2020 and premiered via happymag.tv.
