Palmerston North Pop Rock band The Wake Up have released their stunning new single Dark Horse.
Drummer Caleb Hickmott and guitarist Chris Jordan met in 2015 when their individual bands competed on X-Factor NZ. After a short appearance on TV they headed home to Palmy North and decided to start something new. Vocalist Laura McGaffin joined in late 2018, finalising the line-up and bringing their music to a whole new level.
Based on real life experiences, Dark Horse is a song about staying true to what you believe in and not giving up no matter what. It’s about pushing back on adversity, battling on until you achieve your goals and believing in yourself. Produced by Caleb, recorded at home, & mixed and mastered at Palmerston North’s Creative Sounds by Nigel Mauchline, Dark Horse reiterates that as long as we are breathing, there will always be more opportunities and we should not give up at the first hurdle.
The Wake Up boasts a style and sound created intentionally to remind you of that great Summer time vibe and Dark Horse is no exception. Dark Horse will feature in an upcoming EP which is set for release later in the year. With live performances also in the plans, now is the time to jump aboard The Wake Up express.
