atnight/Keanu Raves Split Single

10 March 2020 - 0 Comments

Keanu Raves (Christchurch) and atnight’s (Auckland) split single Terrace Trip/Yeah I Bought A TB-03 is a perfect exposé of the two artist’s musical abilities. Both productions have an upbeat but haunting aesthetic to them, slickly moving from one energy to another throughout.

On Terrace Trip, atnight plays with his love of classic synth sounds, bringing in a slow acid house groove which sits under a spacious analog synth lead. The track transitions into an emotional breakdown, with an electric guitaresque synth solo, before moving back an ascending groove to finish off.

Yeah I Bought A TB-03 immediately flexes Keanu Raves’ hardware synthesis chops. Armed with an arsenal of drum machines and synthesisers he comes charging in with a thumping house drum beat, layered against a deep, croaky bass. The track flows into a euphoric trance synthesiser, climbing to a peak before winding down.

The single is releasing on 3 April 2020 on their up and coming Christchurch label Club Unique and is available on the Club Unique Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
