The video for indie-pop artist Ashley Alexander’s brand new single Lunar Phase is now premiering on YouTube channel Wicked Chill. Watch the video here.
The Auckland-based singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist’s new song Lunar Phase debuted last Friday on New Music Friday AU/NZ and has just been added to the Spotify playlist Front Left.
The song’s video superbly captures the timeless notion of love. Made by a crack-shooting team of young Kiwi creatives led by Connor Pritchard (who has worked with the likes of JessB, Melodownz and Vayne) the video features Ashley in full-on astronaut regalia in a “world where all walks of life are randomly falling in love and love is a fleeting moment shared between two.”
It’s the perfect accompaniment to the track, which strikes the perfect balance between chill and catchy pop hooks.
Lunar Phase is the third single from his upcoming EP, Staring At The Sun For Too Long, which will be released in May. It follows 2019’s Best Song and Nicotine.
The self-produced record is a coming of age, in which Ashley explores facing the realities of being an adult in a not-so-nice world and appreciating the bitter sweet nature of existing.
