Wellington rock band Seismic State embark on State of Things tour of lower North Island

16 March 2020 - 0 Comments

Exciting Wellington rock band Seismic State hit the road this April as they take their energetic brand of rock music around the lower North Island. Playing all tracks from their debut EP, State of Things, and many more.

The State of Things tour kicks off at Wellington’s Valhalla on 11 April, with shows at Palmerston North’s The Stomach and Hastings’s Common Room following on 17 and 18 April respectively. At each show they will be joined by exciting local talent, all of whom bring an energy that is guaranteed to entertain.

With songs ranging from upbeat ‘get up and dance’ rock and ‘groovy’ rock ‘n’ roll, to mellow almost soulful sophistication and out and out funk rock, there’s something for all fans of rock music – a live event not to be missed.

Toby Lloyd of Tiny Triumph Recordings is excited by the point of difference Seismic State brings to New Zealand music. “Seismic State are a breath of fresh air for the New Zealand rock scene” he says. “For far too long rock bands have taken themselves far too seriously and it’s so great to hear a kick ass band playing rock music that is not only compelling but also fun! With killer riffs, banging drums, smooth bass lines and incredibly honest and poetic vocals; they are a definite must see for any fans of rock music.”

Formed in early 2018 by former members of Auckland band Dirty Riot; Sai (guitar) and Liam (bass) were joined by Matthijs (drums) and Nicole (vocals & guitar) to complete the Seismic State line up.

Their style mixes rock with elements of funk, progressive and alternative as they combine riff oriented guitar with melodic basslines and driving drum rhythms forming a foundation for creative vocal melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. The result is an accessible and sonically pleasing brand music not often found in the rock scene.

For a taste of what to expect, their State of Things EP is available to stream or download on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Google Play, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube and other major streaming platforms.

Further tour information and tickets are available at Under The Radar.
