Sonic Space Lab is releasing its second EP Up in the Air on May 1st independently on all streaming platforms, after releasing the single There’s No Gravity on April 13th. This EP is the follow up to 2018’s Changing Times.
Up in the Air is a 5 track EP filled with soundscapes that go from loud to quiet, electronic to acoustic, sung to instrumental. This EP reflects on Luis’ own feelings of isolation, nostalgia and the euphoria of what a bright future might bring. Songs like There’s no Gravity and Hold On reflect on being away from loved ones, a feeling of loss that still holds hope for the future.
The song writing, recording and production took place between Summer 2019 and Summer 2020, with the final mixing done in lockdown and isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Luis Rodriguez is a music producer and composer born in Caracas, Venezuela, who has worked on several different projects. From rock bands and electronic projects like La Sonata Matraka and Roñettes, to TV, advertising and film composition. Luis influences covers from rock, pop, industrial, trip-hop, electronica, psychedelia and latin music.
In 2016 he based his studio Sonic Space Lab at his home in Dunedin, New Zealand, where he recorded the EP Changing Times which received a good review from 'Divide and Conquer'.
