St. Vitus Dance – acute disturbance of the central nervous system characterised by involuntary muscular movements of the face and limbs. St. Vitus Dance is a disease affecting mainly children, especially females.
Although there is no specific treatment, sedatives and tranquilizers are helpful in suppressing the involuntary movements.
The dance is also a general term for the continuous, involuntary jerking movements and was named after Saint Vitus the patron saint of dancers and young people.
Thus was born Vitus Dance‚ a four piece band consisting of Hayden Yule on drums, Mark McAuley on bass, Jason Wright on lead guitar and back-up vocals and Richard Larsen on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
Playing together for the past three years with a few name changes gone the four piece have grown into their own personal and individual sound inspired from the past and living in the present their unique style of dance rock and roll grunge is an attempt to fuel the apatite of the children of New Zealand that need to dance.
In the ever changing and evolving new age of music the Lower Hutt based band has been gigging with local Wellington bands Slowdance‚ and The Henderson Experience.
With influences such as the Chillies, Satriani, Buckley, Led Zep and Pearl Jam they combine these musical genres into a unique disease known as Vitus Dance.
