Rock from the deep south - brilliantly crafted songs, revealing lyrics, intense vocals... a largely acoustic sound where "it's all about the beats."
The three core members of Mephymology (Jeremy, Roh and Tom) spent the first third of 2005 hanging out and playing some music. Without a bassist there wasn't any chance to gig, but the boys were quite happy to be regularly writing and playing songs. The urge to to play, however, naturally grew strong and the guys asked good friend G to join them to play some shows. G happily obliged, and Mephymology debuted in September at Samstock Music Festival (Mosgiel, Dunedin). The Great Mephymology Summer Tour rock 'n rolled it's way around the South Island for three-and-a-half weeks in early 2006, and the band has been gigging and writing at a relaxed pace since then. Coming up are recording sessions for 'Mephymology 102', a follow-up to last September's '101'.
A largely acoustic sound (reminiscent of Paul Simon) brings certain pop (or even folk) elements to Mephymology's music, whilst a good dose of Springsteen flavoured rock (amongst other things) makes for some interesting and exciting songs, which come alive at live show.
It's just beginning...
