Lanky have captured the more mysterious moments of transatlantic classic sixties pop with their debut release 'Wait'.
Recorded at Arch Hill Studios, every care has been taken to ensure listener tranquility in the low glow zone where the heart of this music lies.
The four musicians in Lanky are already well known in the New Zealand music scene, as well as by New Zealand music fans throughout the world. Jim Laing (vocals, guitar) recorded three albums with The Jean Paul Sartre Experience for Flying Nun Records. Robert Key (drums) has also performed in many successful Flying Nun acts through the years, including The Cake Kitchen (who released four albums) and The Expendables, as well as the latest David Kilgour album. Noel Ward (bass) has appeared on all three of former Clean main man David Kilgour's solo albums, as well as many other projects, including The Strangeloves.
Continuing in the Flying Nun theme, Tony de Raad (guitar) is a former member of the well-known Dunedin group, the Mad Scene. Lanky were B-Net nominees in 1998 for the title track 'Wait'.
'Wait' has been released on Arch Hill Records, who have released a solo album by David Mulcahy (formerly of Superette and Jean Paul Sartre Experience) and an EP by Fang. Both of these releases have been reviewed very favorably and received extensive Student Radio airplay.
