From the thrashings of the nether-world's psychotropic monstrous cerebellum, comes the three-headed stoner rock/sludge/doom beast that is SLOP.
SLOP play a haunting, bitter-sweet combination of stoner rock, sludge and doom. Intimate vocals float over a sound that can change from intense to dream-like at the flick of a switch.
Tribal rhythms and complex, yet groove-based beats resonate over sleazy distorted bass, with sparse, heavy, but mid-range guitars, and short, off-kilter, a-tonal solos. The bass is a throbbing low-end fudge of heavy-chocolate goodness.
With stoner rock at their centre of their sound, SLOP delve into the slowed-down Sabbath-esque meanderings of the sludge and doom vibe. Vocals are low-slung, with an intimate, storyteller vibe.
Lyrical content takes its cue from a mixture of HP Lovecraftian cosmic psychedelia and historical fantasy – everything from the rise of Cthulu to the fall of the Mongol Empire (as heard in the band's first demo track, March of the Triumphant).
Band interests include the inevitable craft beer, incredibly large, over-complex sandwiches, sci-fi, fantasy, the Dark Ages, world history, psychedelia, cafe racer motorcycles, HG Wells and HP Lovecraft.
