GeneratoR

Bio

Formed in 2014 by Dave, Generator is a six piece cover band from Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Delivering all those classic tracks that we all know and love...Keeping it simple, and doing it well!

Right, here we go…..

The amazing vocals of Annitta & Paula...
Paula’s discovery of Karaoke whilst living in London started her love affair of singing. With a love of all genres and influenced by too many different artists to list, this energetic mother of two brings strong vocals and melodic harmonies to Generator.
o Annitta’s hypnotic harmonies, velvety soft lows and reaching highs add that extra dimension to the Generator vocals. Annitta comes from a musically talented family (both as a hobby and professional) and was heavily influenced by her Dad’s love of; Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Dire Straits, Joe Cocker and The Eagles. Seeing Metallica, UB40 and Ardijah live have also added to Annittas love of music.

The engine room…
Mike’s bass tones, influenced by the early English Heavy Metal genre of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin mixed with musicianship styles from the likes of Carol Kaye, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jnr and the legend that is WA Mozart - provide that backdrop to a band that only a bass can provide. Mike is a classically trained flautist who studied music through Trinity College of Music in London, and has been playing bass for guitar for 5 years. Previous bands include “Ginger Beer Sunday” and “Lake Alice”. With a musical highlight of seeing Black Sabbath live with his sons’ and his first album purchased being Led Zeppelin 3, Generator’s bassist will ensure those low bass notes rattle the bones.

Growing up in the big smoke of Pahiatua, Dave as a kid would start tapping out a beat on his desk at school whenever his teacher picked up the guitar. His school report used to say he “…was a ratbag, but he could hold up a good beat.” After leaving school, Dave joined the local pipe band and became Drum Sergeant, teaching the young ones the side drum and later joined a band called “Star Gazers”. A move to Palmerston North saw Dave meet fellow local muso’s and went on to form a band called “Poetic Justice”. Band members moving out of town for work saw the band break up and a job change saw Dave meet fellow Generator Jason, together they formed “Cruze Mode”. Influenced by Bill Ward, Keith Moon, Phil Collins, Nick Mason, Dave Grohl and Lars Urlich - Generator’s time machine will chug away all night long without skipping a beat. Dave's passion to rock is a solid back-bone of the mighty Generator.

The guitar virtuosos'…
Joining Generator in 2015, Jason brings 11 years of guitar playing to the table. Jason joined Dave in “Cruze Mode”, and another band after that also. Jason was also involved with Phantom of the Opera in 2014 at Palmerston North’s, Regent On Broadway. Jason’s diverse range of influences that include; Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Mowtown, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Michael Jackson come through in the rhythmic presence that helps gives Generator that fullness and knowledge of those tracks that everyone knows and loves.

Growing up in the vibrant music scene of Central Hawkes Bay’s, Waipukurau, Cameron brings 25 years of guitar playing to Generator. Music is in his blood, to the extent that before even being born he was kicking mum in time to Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”! Cameron grew up in a musical house-hold and would go along to Dads band practices any chance he could. Heavily influenced by his Father’s precision guitar playing mimicking that of Hank Marvin, would later go on to be a lifetime musical highlight of seeing The Shadows live and meeting & greeting Hank Marvin in person. Being involved in Waipukurau bands; “Celestial Fudge”, “Pythagoras Theorem” and “Vex” would see another musical achievement of being in a band making it to the finals in an original songwriter’s competition and also being a support act for the iconic “Hello Sailor” at Waipukurau’s Racecourse Rock. Hugely influenced by; Pink Floyd, Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, Metallica and Pantera to name but a few, Cameron is also inspired by Guitar masters; Dimebag Darrell, Slash, Kirk Hammett, Joe Satriani and many others. Thundering power chords, passionate solo’s and melodic tones that you can feel is what Generator can rely on.
