Scribe - Not Many Cities Single Review

05 Oct 2011 // A review by Dilemma

There really could have been no better ambassador to raise awareness for Christchurch than Scribe. The Southern born rapper who is known for his own quiet strength, persistence and resilience, has always been proud of his roots. From the very beginning Scribe has paid tribute to Christchurch in his music and interviews and was so honoured to be asked to rejuvenate and remix his top selling single Not Many for the people of Christchurch and also for the people of New Zealand who have all been affected by the Earthquakes. Scribe himself lost a cousin in this tragedy and used making the music video for ‘Not Many Cities’ as a therapeutic journey through emotions in the Red Zone, still with it’s unsafe signs, the apparent devastation was used to outlay the strength, resilience and hope that is still in the people of Canterbury.

The reason for making this music video is to show the people of New Zealand thanks for their support and to show that the heart and community spirit of the people in Churchurch is still alive. There is more we can do as a nation to continue the rebuilding and support so please go and purchase ‘Not Many Cities’ from http://www.amplifier.co.nz/all the proceeds go to Plunket to help the new generations of proud Cantabrians who hopefully some day will also be able to take their music to the world in the footsteps of Scribe.

Jayson Norris - Save My Soul EP Review
16 May 2014 // by Dilemma
New from Jayson Norris is the Save My Soul EP as part of NZ Music Month. If you are a fan of Kora style rock or Tiki Taane melodies then you will love this five-song EP, cleverly incorporating roots and the groove of mainstream guitar rock’n’soul to blur genres.

Estère - Estere Album Review
10 May 2014 // by Dilemma
Released as a free download via Bandcamp the debut EP from Wellington singer/songwriter/beatmaker/producer Estere is definitely unique in the NZ music scene. Self-described as “just a girl with an MPC” Estere works her equipment and the product is individualistic, raw and worthy of a listen this NZ Music Month.
