The Hamma play an old school energy driven raw rock n roll with a heavy metal edge. They formed around 1984 and their sound is very reminiscent of that era. They gigged, playing originals and covers through to the 90’s and then went on hiatus for 15 years. They are now back gigging and with an album of all originals.
The first bands that come to mind when I crank this on the stereo are Motorhead and AC/DC. Their album kicks off with Drop Dead! and Snakes Eyes which are both angry songs of evil women showcasing some cool blues inspired guitar work. Bad Reflection slows it down for a cool intro before rocking out only to slow down again. They have some really cool riffs and You’re A Goner kicks off with a stonker. Panzer Tank rocks and Crazy is a great song about the love of Rock n Roll. There’s some great guitar work on here with some really cool leads. Let Us Rock is another in the same theme. The album ends with two numbers Hard Line which made me think of Thin Lizzy and Fire At Will which ends the album on a high energy level.
No doubt these guys will rock out live and provide an awesome night out with their tales of wild women and Rock n Roll, two of life’s finest pleasures. This is an album which needs to be cranked up when you’re getting ready for a night out having those first few drinks. Play it loud.

The Hamma are a dirty kick-ass 4 piece rock band from Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, playing original songs and classic covers (ACDC, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, The Sex Pistols, Quiet Riot, Judas Priest, Steppenwolf and more - see setlist below).
Originally formed in 1984, they played numerous gigs around New Zealand, and recorded the original tracks on this site in a garage.
After a 15 year hiatus while the members went their seperate ways to live less exciting lives, they reformed in 2010 with Pete (vocals/guitar), Kev (drums), and Hugh (Bass) and in 2011 added a second guitarist, Glen (aka Bomber), to the mix.
