Locked Out Of Space is the debut album from indie rockers, Tricks & Sleeves, showcasing the bands ethereal Pop melodies and infectious hooks. Following on from their self-titled debut EP, Tricks & Sleeves seem to be going from strength to strength, and are a band that I hope are very aware of their talent and future potential.
Hailing from Auckland, the four-piece are the very essence of modern meets old school 70s/80s indie rock. There is a Neil Young vibe to a few tracks, very soft and dreamy and a very chill sound which will appeal to a lot of music lovers, especially with Summer on the horizon.
Vocalist/Lead Guitarist, Jesse Jacobsen has a very even tone that is light and give a lot of life to every track. A strong rhythm section has his backing, and the production quality is flawless and tight.
Lose is just one of the stand out tracks for me, its beautifully soft and gentle, has some amazing melodies and riffs and a great feel to it.
I can see more great things happening with Tricks & Sleeves and this is an album definitely worth having in your collection. Well done guys.Tricks & Sleeves is an Indie band from Auckland.
Influenced by alternative and indie bands from the last two decades, Tricks & Sleeves also draw their inspiration from 70’s folk rock artists like Paul Simon and Neil Young.
Catchy vocal melodies on top of solid rhythms form the basis of the sound, complemented by layers of sonically eerie guitars.
