Oakley Grenell has just released his new single Frienemy on his own record label, Central Records. It features Silva MC on vocals. This is Oakley's 12th release in over 16 years.
The song starts off with Ragga Dancehall feels, Silva MC goes in on the vocal steez. Her vocal styles are truly unique, and she has a strong vocal range.
Oakley's production on the music is nothing less than flawless. The bass is big and fat, the Synthesizer sounds works harmoniously with Silva MC's vocals. The blend of the music production and Silva MC's vocals on this track sound like a very strong bond of all the right elements. As if the track wrote itself, there is layer upon layer of extra sounds which creates a full listening experience.
Frienemy has a very danceable tune, it would sound great live or played through big subs in a car. It's an interesting way to merge friend and enemy together as Frienemy's lyrics say, "Closer than a friend, but your real enemy".
Frienemy is only 3:06mins in length, however it has a full sounding great dancehall tune. This song clearly has high quality production from Oakley's studio in Melbourne and it makes me want to hear more of his tunes.
I had the pleasure of meeting Oakley in Raglan earlier this year. He is very talented, playing guitars and singing and then DJ'ing! Keep an eye out for Oakley Grenell when he tours NZ with his new Single Frienemy.
