Comprised of three Kiwis, Zane Rosanoski (drums) Tarquin Keys (vocals) Daz Coppins (guitar), and a Canadian, Eric Boucher (bass). Formed in Melbourne during pandemic times comes the Rock quartet, East York.
During the first wave of lockdowns in April 2020 ideas and music had started to form. Before long, with the help of the internet, East York had begun and this is their debut single, Outsiders.
As a tribute to those who walk a different path to societal norms, Outsiders is a journey of self-discovery according to vocalist, Tarquin Keys.
From the outset it erupts with a ferocious build up combined with driving guitar riffs, split second guttural screams and followed swiftly by Tarquin’s strong and melodic tone. It’s catchy as hell, has great lyricism and even with its flip flop between straight rock and scream core metal vocals and riffs, it is incredibly uplifting from start to finish.
It’s a strong and bold single to release as their first single and I think they’ve nailed it.
As a taste of what is to come, there is exciting times ahead and I can’t wait to see what unfolds.
For a band who launched during a global pandemic, East York are generating a unique buzz worldwide which only comes along occasionally.
Their debut EP Origins is masterfully melded into an exciting, fresh and face melting fusion. Balancing the excitement and unpredictability of Refused, rounded out with the epicness of Alice In Chains and Faith No More. Their debut offering will have you yearning for more … and yes, there is more to come.
East York have secured an impressive selection of rotation and regular radio airplay on national, indie and student radio stations all over New Zealand and Australia. Including Radio Hauraki, BayRock FM, Kaos FM, The Generator, Radio One, The Faction.
