LA based New Zealand musical artist Eden Iris has just released her debut album The Fuchsia &The Grey; an evocative eleven track album of beautifully crafted indie-folk songs, which "showcases the evolution of an artist who is highly dedicated to her craft".
Eden has been growing her fanbase with a steady release of singles in between major projects, ever since moving to Los Angeles when she was nineteen.
Following on from Eden’s Demons EP in 2018, Fuchsia & The Grey was recorded almost entirely in her home studio in Burbank, California. A dauntless selection of exceptionally written songs which highlight her strength and vulnerability.
The striking opening track Death Is A Teacher, offers a taste of the beautiful thoughtful composition of the album. This track is my personal favourite it touches your heart with bold lyrics and strong instrumentals. Described as being perhaps the boldest song on the album, Death Is A Teacher is transcendental pop/rock rather than folk, a stirring vibrant track of different facets.
Throughout the album are moody rich lyrics combined with soft sweet vocals, a subtle mix of pop and folk.
Brittle & Blue became another personal favourite on this album. Eden shoots an arrow at your heart with heartfelt breathy words accompanied by a stunning slightly Gaelic folk sound, sweet pop notes and a clear smooth delivery. Most of all and simply put, this is just a beautiful song.
All of the eleven tracks on The Fuchsia & The Grey are honest and captivating. A celebration of Eden’s strengths, this album embraces her vulnerability in the fact that as quoted previously "she is not afraid to dance with her blues".
Eden proves herself to be an accomplished raconteuse, a descriptive musical story teller with a genuine endearing sound.
The Fuchsia & The Grey is a strong collection of songs, delivered impeccably.

Working out of her home studio in Burbank, California, not a day that goes by that Eden isn’t writing, recording, or producing. Her Demons EP (2018) was described as “soul stirring, beautifully arranged and poignantly observed…” by Mike Alexander (Sunday Star Times) and received radio-play on Los Angeles Station 88.5 KCSN, along with three of her other singles (two of them being featured as “Fresh Squeeze of the Day” By DJ Nic Harcourt).
In 2019, the haunting folk/electronica song Dark Sunday Dream found it’s cult following after being picked up by indie-folk playlist Alex Rainbird, with over half a million subscribers on YouTube. Dark Sunday Dream has also had regular rotation on Radio Paradise and has received critical acclaim by indie-folk blogs around the world. Eden’s single Worse Things (November 2019) which was co-written with Maia Sharp, premiered with Billboard and American Songwriter Magazine. With the steady release of these singles over the past year, Eden is building a strong fanbase who highly anticipate the release of her debut album in January, 2021.
