Eden Iris

Bio

Eden Iris is an artist from Auckland, New Zealand who has been described as “an artist working in a new space” (Jordan Luck, The Exponents) who has “the ambition to carve out her own niche” (Demerra Records). She moved to Los Angeles, California when she was nineteen years-old to pursue her music career and has since made a home for herself on the west coast. In Los Angeles, Eden has collaborated with esteemed songwriters such as Maia Sharp (Dixie Chicks), Jamie Candiloro (REM, Ryan Adams) and Bruce Lynch (Kate Bush).

Working out of her home studio in Burbank, California, not a day that goes by that Eden isn’t writing, recording, or producing. Her Demons EP (2018) was described as “soul stirring, beautifully arranged and poignantly observed…” by Mike Alexander (Sunday Star Times) and received radio-play on Los Angeles Station 88.5 KCSN, along with three of her other singles (two of them being featured as “Fresh Squeeze of the Day” By DJ Nic Harcourt).

In 2019, the haunting folk/electronica song Dark Sunday Dream found it’s cult following after being picked up by indie-folk playlist Alex Rainbird, with over half a million subscribers on YouTube. Dark Sunday Dream has also had regular rotation on Radio Paradise and has received critical acclaim by indie-folk blogs around the world. Eden’s single Worse Things (November 2019) which was co-written with Maia Sharp, premiered with Billboard and American Songwriter Magazine. With the steady release of these singles over the past year, Eden is building a strong fanbase who highly anticipate the release of her debut album in January, 2021.

  • New Year's Eve (Give Me Something Good)

New Year’s Eve (Give Me Something Good) is the latest single from Eden Iris. Drawing from her folk-roots and love of stringed instruments such as the banjo and the cello, Eden weaves these timeless instruments into a contemporary setting with a heart-wrenching and infectious hook. The song tells a bittersweet story of a relationship on the rocks on New Year’s Eve. “New Year’s Eve (Give Me Something Good) is something like a bittersweet plea to a lover - or perhaps to time itself. On a night where there are certain expectations and pressures (to go wild and bring in the new year in with a BANG, to have someone to kiss when the clock strikes midnight) this year, like everything else - the event will be staggeringly different for many of us. But a part of me is sure that with this year’s more modest celebrations, where we will have virtual parties in our quiet houses, and faces may be lit up by candles more than fireworks - we will bring in 2021 with sincere hope, prayers, and gratitude. Because we care about each other, and we simply need each other. If you’ve ever had a lonely New Year’s Eve, or if you’re dreading it this year, I hope you relate to this song.” - Eden Iris

  • Young Guest (featuring Lucie Hill)

"Young Guest" is an endearing collaboration between two artists who both have strong roots in New Zealand. Lucie Hill (formerly known as Little Lapin), met Eden Iris at her show at the Portland Public House in Auckland, NZ, in early 2014. Several weeks later they were touring New Zealand together and encouraging each other to write as much as possible. “Young Guest” was written when Lucie (now residing in Cornwall, England) and Eden (currently in Burbank, California) reconnected during the pandemic and felt inspired to write together. After an initial break-through on a co-writing session over Zoom, Eden then began recording and producing “Young Guest” in her home studio. The song resembles elements of Eden and Lucie’s folk/singer-songwriter roots, but also draws inspiration — both lyrically and sonically — from Kate Bush. “To me, Young Guest is about making peace with who you used to be, and the choices you made when you were younger... being kind to your old self.“ - Eden Iris
