Lee Mvtthews - Gig Review: Lee Mvtthews @ Christchurch Town Hall, Christchurch - 27/04/2024

02 May 2024 // A review by Deprivacy

Christchurch residents were treated to a huge night of EDM at the stunning Christchurch Town Hall on Saturday night as Lee Mvtthews performed the Christchurch leg of their tour, bringing along with the award-winning producers, was a hand selected bunch of talented artists which made a truly amazing show.

Leading the charge for the support acts was Messie, an up and comer with a huge following. Her fantastic 45-minute set gave the early crowd just what they were there for.

Following Messie, was George FM afternoon host Brook Gibson, and much like the previous act, he brought his own energy and sound to a crowd that was still in awe from the last artist. Brook has made a great name for himself, not only through his music, but also through his humble energetic attitude.

Following Brook, was Max Motel, her 55-minute set raised the intensity of the music again, setting the crowd into a frenzy of excitement and soon had the dance floor pulsing with an eager audience. It’s at this point of the night I have to really mention the lighting and audio quality, everything was completely on point and absolutely added value to the experience, especially being my first ever EDM experience.

After Max Motel's epic show was over, the last and final pre-act was Pirapus. This epic duo warmed the crowd with some very cool performances, crowd interaction and energy. Their 1-hour set had everybody fizzing, adding to the anticipation for the main event

The final part of the night was the huge show played by New Zealand icons Lee Mvtthews, From the word go they brought huge applause, colossal sound and massive energy. The moment they took control of the decks, the crowd was at their mercy. With
a set playing for 1 1/2 hours, there was a great mix of old songs, and new songs, from their recently released album, Exit. It was a great blend of music.

As an overall experience for myself at my first EDM show, I had an absolute blast. The venue was amazing, the staff were incredible, and with the audience sharing their love for everything electronic, the vibe made for a perfect night out, and it definitely won’t be my last! I'd recommend this to everyone.

Whether you’re new to electronic music or a seasoned listener, attending a Lee Mvtthews gig is for everyone. With a recipe of great atmosphere, great music and fantastic venues, Lee Mvtthews and their  talented line-up of support acts deliver an incredible experience. Be sure to check them out, you won’t regret it!
