Kantuta are New Zealand’s top Latin American dance band, resident in Auckland. They have performed all over New Zealand and perform original material with Latino/Pacific rhythms, including songs in both Spanish and English.
The original line-up of the group consisted of Eduardo Diaz (Chile), Alvaro Diaz (Chile), Edwin Westermeier (Chile), Joao De Silva (Brazil), Michel Eliard (Belgium), Cameron McKenzie (NZ), Paul Shand (Scotland) and Mike Abbott (NZ).
Kantuta have released three albums through EMI: 'Kantuta' in 1992 Platinum sales status; 'Pacifico' in 1993 which included a cover of Dragon’s 'April Sun in Cuba' and 'Fiesta' in 1997.
