Asteroid Andy was formed in 1997 from the ashes of Auckland band Whisper and Christchurch band Dead Fish. Their first gig was in April 1998 at a friend's party and since they they have gigged solidly at venues around Auckland.

Their influences include Pacifier, Incubus, The Feelers, Finger Eleven, Weta, Lit, Mark Hollis, Led Zeppelin, Deftones, Salmonella Dub, Radiohead, Supergrass and Tool.

Asteroid Andy has recorded 12 songs at 3 different studios on 4 different occasions. Four of those songs have had radio airplay in Wellington and Auckland.
