Joy Adams

Bio

Joy is one of New Zealand's best known Country recording artists. She has consistantly been in the Top 20 of the Mainstream Independent Airplay Charts all year (2002), which is a wonderful acheivement for any artist.

In 2001 she performed in Nashville on the Midnite Jamboree as special guest of Ernie Ashworth. She gained her very first number one song on the EMS Independent Top 40 Charts in August 2001 with her song 'I Know You Don't Love Me No More'.

In 2002 The Colorado Country Music Hall Of Fame held their annual awards, and Joy Adams was nominated for 'International Artist Of The Year'. In 1998 she appeared as one of New Zealand's Top Country acts at the Trans-Tasman Country Music Festival held in Norfolk Island.

Joy helped initiate the first Rock 'n' Country concerts in Hamilton to raise money and awareness for the Stroke Foundation. In May 2000 she helped co-ordinate the 1st Rotary of Huntly Country Charity Concert, which was held at the Founders Theatre in Hamilton. This concert raised $5,500 for spinal injury research.

Joy has received the following awards:

* June 1990 - 'Best Original Song' at the Auckland Country Music Awards for 'Come Home Baby Darling'.
* August 1990 - NZCMA 'Best Country Song', 'Best Gospel Song', 'Most Promising Songwriter Of The Year' & 'Songwriter Of The Year'.
* August 1990 - Overall winner of the Taupo Invitation Awards.
* October 1990 - NZCMA 'Entertainer Of The Year'.
* January 1991 - 'Best Original Song', 'Female Vocal Section' & Overall winner at the Napier New Year Awards.
* March 1991 - 'Best Original Song' at the Golden Clef Awards, Rotorua.
* August 1991 - 'Best Original Song' at the Pro-Am Songwriters Awards, Australia.
* October 1991 - 'Best Original Song' at the Trucking Awards, Invercargill.
* June 1997 - Third place at the MLT Professional Songwriters Awards
* June 1998 - Winner at the MLT Professional Songwriters Awards.
* September 1999 - Runner-up in the Comedy/Novelty section at the Tasmania and New Zealand Songwriters Awards
* September 2000 - Winner in the Comedy/Novelty secton at the Tasmania and New Zealand Songwriters Awards
