Cut Off Your Hands

Bio

"Sounding kinda like if The Buzzcocks and Gang Of Four got all romantic and then had a child with Attention Deficit Disorder who couldn't stop jumping off things and hanging from the rafters. Shaky Hands will make your handheld disco meter explode." - A Low Hum

"Awesomely angular, New Zealand's new finest purveyors of controlled chaos." - Rolling Stone

"Cut Off Your Hands is a great start for what is soon to be another great New Zealand band." - Waikato Times

"A rare occurence - each track on this EP is a stunner. Highly recommended." - The Press (Christchurch)

"(Shaky Hands) have skillfully captured the essence of their catchy hooks, tasteful guitar work and fun harmonies. No need for over indulgent lead breaks - just hit songs round here thanks." - Rip It Up

Previously known as The Shaky Hands, Cut Off Your Hands were forced to change their name in 2007.

Band Members:
Nicholas Johnston (vocals)
Phillip Hadfield (bass)

Cut Off Your Hands touchdown for MySpace Secret Show!
Posted: Thu Sep 25, 2008 7:00 pm
MySpace are pleased to announce a FREE Secret Show with Cut Off Your Hands on Thursday 9th October in Auckland City.

The band who have been touring extensively throughout Europe, Australia and Japan fly into New Zealand for a brief jaunt to attend the NZ Music Awards and play an intimate MySpace Secret Show at an undisclosed venue to a handful of lucky MySpace users.

In 2007 the band signed to the prestigious 679 record label in the UK and their first single ‘Oh Girl’ hit #1 on the UK’s influential NME chart. After notable tours and EP releases the band are now ready to release their debut album ‘You and I’ in New Zealand on October 6th. Fans will be able to hear first hand songs from the debut album at this MySpace Secret Show and receive exclusive hand printed posters to commemorate the event.

An exclusive listening session of the album ‘You and I’ will be available from the 26th September on MySpace from the bands profile www.myspace.com/cutoffyourhands more than one week ahead of release.

MySpace Secret Shows are exclusive, FREE concerts held throughout New Zealand featuring some of the biggest Kiwi artists. The only way MySpace users can find out specific details about this and future concerts is by adding Secret Shows as a ‘friend’ to their profile via www.myspace.com/secretshowsnz. This will guarantee they are the first to find out details as they are made available. When all is revealed, entry to the show is on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Shaky Hands forced to change their name
Posted: Wed Feb 7, 2007 12:19 pm
Due to legal pressures from a U.S band of the same name, The Shaky Hands are changing their name.

Says frontman Nick Johnson "We were forced to change because there's a band in America already called The Shaky Hands. We knew all along something was going to happen but we didn't expect such drastic measures to be taken. We're disapointed, they weren't open to compromise at all. They wouldn't budge. There are 3 labels in the US looking to put us out, and we're heading over there very shortly for South by Southwest plus some other dates, so we just needed to make a quick decision."

The Shaky Hands will take their new name from their 2006 EP Cut Off Your Hands.
