Medolic is the conception of New Zealand born artist and songwriter Lix Bacskay (pronounced batch-koy).
Tired and uninspired by the righteous removed from the real, Lix draws from the great narrative artists like Springsteen, Presley, Cash and Mitchell and poetic liberators like Buckley, Yorn, Fanning and G. A. Richards, to craft her own stories of human-ness with their feet in the everyday and their eyes on an ever changing horizon. The sound itself tip-toes its way between the footsteps of rock and blues revolutionaries like Homme, Cobain, Clapton and Bramhall, teetering on the edge of the deeper and darker, remembering all the while its country upbringing.
Medolic was conceived in 2005, with conscience and without foregone conclusions. Nothing More, an acoustic demo recorded at James North Productions (Brisbane), is already catching the attention of watchful industry eyes. Further studio adventures, planned for the antipodean autumn/winter of 2006, make the promise of more to come.
History...
Born in '78, Lix grew up in relative rural isolation and with the perception that to express herself visually and audibly was as obligatory as breathing. While it was the visual arts in which she submersed herself for the first 25 years of her life, it was the music she constantly sought out and fell for that would draw her out of her paintings and into the world.
Ever the linguist and with a sometimes frustrating habit of thinking and speaking in the clumsy poetic, it is only very recently that Lix picked up a guitar and found the key.
