Debut solo album for David Dallas
Posted: Thu Aug 6, 2009 3:40 pm
Something Awesome - the debut solo album from David Dallas, sees the return of New Zealand’s smoothest rapper, with a soundtrack for anyone who has aspired to be something more.

In a time when popular hip hop records sound less and less like the songs that attracted David to the genre, Something Awesome is unashamedly vintage in its approach. These are twelve sincere songs from an artist whose life experiences probably mirror your own.

With producers Forty One and Fire and Ice providing the backdrop, guests PNC, Devolo, Aaradhna, Young Sid, and newcomers Jordache and Niko round out the experience that is Something Awesome.

David Dallas wowed US hip hop critics early in 2009 with impressive performances at the influential SXSW ’09 festival and received a standing ovation at LA’s infamous Viper Room. The US hip hop blogosphere has been buzzing about David since, most notably hip hop tastemakers The Smoking Section, OnSMASH.com and FWMJ’s Rappers I Know (Okayplayer network). He will be returning to the US in October to record and perform.

Armed with an outstanding new album and an international career about to take flight, David Dallas’s desire to be Something Awesome will soon come to fruition.

Check out www.daviddallas.co.nz for the album artwork, and for the videos for the Top 40 single ‘Indulge Me’ and the new single ‘Big Time’.

Something Awesome will be released on 31 August 2009 through rhythmethod & DRM.

David Dallas new EP
Posted: Tue Dec 9, 2008 6:23 pm
As you might guess from the title, Mr David Dallas returns with an EP of brand spanking new material! And it’s out right now…

The Something Now EP serves as a showcase of the outstanding songwriting Dave is renowned for, and displays a smooth new direction for the former front man of Frontline. A direction we’ll be seeing much more of on his forthcoming solo album “Something Awesome” due mid 2009.

‘Something Now’ begins with ‘Get Out The Way’, heard recently through the release of it’s video: a raw, first person depiction of youth racers doing what they do.

A few special guests join Dave on the EP including Mareko of Deceptikonz fame, South Auckland vet Mr Sicc, Tek from R.E.S, and talented R&B vocalist Tolu.

The EP is available right this very second through Amplifier.co.nz and other digital partners, check out: http://www.amplifier.co.nz/release/43326/something-now-ep.html

The full tracklisting is as follows:

1. Get Out The Way
2. Hey Bro
3. All On My Own ft Tolu
4. Ever Ever
5. Don’t Know What To Do
6. Oooh Yeah ft Mareko
7. Get Out The Way Remix ft. Mr Sicc & Tek from R.E.S
