Mama Said

Bio

The latest line up formed late in Summer of 97. Four well-accomplished and respected Waikato and Bay of Plenty based musicians who got together and started the covers circuit. Recognized as great potential talent by Dean Cowley from Demo Streetwear, he leant his support from the band’s inception.

From humble beginnings they have worked their way up to not only being a reputable covers band but took up the challenge to write and play their own music.

The talent was recognised fully when they won the 2000 National Battle of the Bands Competition outright.

The band received a huge credibility boost when they supported Tadpole on the summer tour with Betchadupa and from that came performances at Extreme Air 2001 on the centre stage and also at Orientation 2001.

Mama Said had a massive profile with the urban youth demographic, and have always maintained a “realness” with their stage performances and with their original compositions.

Mama Said have now broken up and Jarod now performs with 48May.
