Ivy Lies are a three piece all girl rock/pop band from Auckland, New Zealand, that play upbeat hooky pop tunes with harmonious melodies and a solid rock edge.
Originally formed by Lisa, Emla and Rosie under the name 'Starlett' when the girls were still in school, the band caught the eye of SonyBMG. The development deal that followed led to the release of two singles, ‘What I Had’ and ‘Let It Go’, both receiving heavy airplay on commercial radio and music television.
In 2007 the band underwent a number of changes. They packed up their worldly possessions and moved from the genteel sophistication of Christchurch to New Zealand's Big Smoke: Auckland.
They changed their name from Starlett to Ivy Lies - allegedly to avoid being confused with a Swedish boy band. They then they met Mihka, the fourth band member. Packing up the truck and moving to Auckland was a great decision. Mihka has since parted ways with the band.
Ivy Lies are currently playing at various fine establishments around Auckland, including The Dog's Bollix, and the King's Arms. They have just got back from Los Angeles where they recorded their debut album with Grammy award winning producer/songwriter, Clif Magness.
Band Members:
Emla Palmer (guitar, vocals)
Lisa Blatchford (bass, backing vocals)
Rosie O'Connell (drums)
