Melic

Bio

Melic are a four-piece rock band based in London signed to UK label, Beatnik Geek Records. Their sound is derived from an eclectic blend of musicians – fusing a funk-rock bassist, a metal drummer, a classically trained pianist and saxophonist, and a rock singer/song-writer guitarist. Formed in 2008, the band have since recorded three independently released EPs and are shortly about to release their DEBUT ALBUM - all while cutting their teeth on the London live music scene, headlining shows at many of the city’s top venues.

Melic’s single titled ‘ Nowhere I’d Rather Be’ is now on radio waves around the world and was released on iTunes (and all other good online music stores) on 17th February 2012. The EP was produced By Paul Matthews (I Am Giant, Tadpole, Stylus). The official music video for 'Nowhere I'd Rather Be' on YouTube ( www.youtube.com/melicband ).

Melic toured NZ in June 2012 playing Juice Bar (Auckland), Altitude (Hamilton), Dux Live (ChCh), Krazy Jack's (Tauranga) and The Cavern Club (Wellington).

The band won 'Best Overall Band' in the Unsigned Awards UK 2012, run by Play Music Magazine (UK).

Melic have performed with many kiwi bands including Shihad, The Feelers, I Am Giant, Kora, Katchafire etc.

LATEST NEWS: Melic will shortly be announcing the NZ/Aus release date for their debut album 'An Hour To Anywhere' (UK/US/Europe release was 5th August 2013). Follow Melic on Facebook to keep in touch!

Here's what some of the press are saying:

"An Absolute riot live" - TNT Magazine (UK)

"London four-piece Melic successfully blended their diverse musical backgrounds - classical, funk, metal and rock - with the bluesy "Nowhere I'd Rather Be" a particular highlight."
- - The Independent (Cornbury Festival Review).

"A very intriguing young band from London that use their disparate influences to create a very eclectic form of progressive-indie-rock, which is the only way we can describe their very unique sound. Besides being very accomplished musicians, Melic write some great tunes too and they aren’t afraid to experiment".
- - Play Music Pick Up Magazine

"Melic are undoubtedly talented musicians ...The Coal Pit Sessions is nothing short of superb ... It’s hard to find comparisons to Melic’s sound but what is clear is that the sound they achieved is one they intended to. The Coal Pit Sessions is the sound of a band comfortable in their identity and confident in their ability, it will be interesting to hear what this exciting band produce next."
- - Dan Issitt - Aim Low Press / Alter the Press
