Based in Mount Manganui, PleasePlease are Ryan Mulligan and Antony Jeffaries. The old school friends reconnected in 2012 when Antony returned from studying music in the States. Having played in various high school rock bands over the years, the duo quickly discovered they were both now into dance music. Ryan showed Antony a track he’d been working on and Antony put a vocal to it. And just like that, PleasePlease was formed.
Their debut single, Viva La Piano, was written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered in Mount Maunganui. Written one afternoon at Ryan's flat; the vocals were recorded and produced by Alexander Wildwood , Nathan Sowter mixed and mastered the track.
The video, produced and directed by Tim Armstrong, was shot in Los Angeles and Auckland.
Viva La Piano was featured on theaudience.co.nz in 2013, where the band were then selected by Six60 to open for their sold out show in Hamilton later that year. Also opening for Passion Pit and Robert DeLong in 2013, the duo brought the year to an end with a performance at the popular Rhythm & Vines, New Year's Eve Festival.
2014 proved an even busier year for PleasePlease, as the duo kicked things off with a performance at Auckland's Big Day Out, followed by a performance at Wellington's popular Homegrown Festival and Auckland Unitec's Street Festival in March. Releasing their debut EP A-Ha in December 2014, PleasePlease closed out the year with a performance at the Rhythm & Vines New Year's Eve Festival, once again. Supporting Slow Magic in January 2015, PleasePlease spent the remainder of the year touring throughout the country in support of their EP.
Beginning 2016 with a performance at Auckland's Music In Parks summer series event, followed by a performance at the University of Canterbury, this year is shaping up to be yet another busy one for the duo.
