“I Sound Like-” Is the debut solo production EP by Joshua Martin. This 4 Track EP illustrates a natural rhythmic style of authentic acoustic drumming coupled with intuitive melodic melodies vocally complemented by insightful lyrics from life-inspired experiences. No longer restricted by just one instrument Joshua has developed a new original sound that is fresh, funky, and real and rocks a solid groove!

Biography: Joshua Martin, born 29/02/1980, New Zealand.

Picking up drum sticks at the inquisitive age of 10 years old Joshua’s first drumbeat that he ever played was far more advanced than any average 10year old child would normally co-ordinate. Embracing all genres of music Joshua would bring home vinyl records as widely varied as the likes of Gershwin to Mozart to Muddy Waters to the Beatles. Joshua had a natural feel and rhythm to his playing and whilst never trying to copy or learn how to play a particular song he would practice for hour’s freestyle jamming whatever groove he felt.
As a teenager, before Digital, before Smart Phones and well before Social Media, Joshua recorded a few songs he had written at a small analogue recording studio Singing and playing Acoustic Bass Guitar. Those songs were never commercially released and Joshua returned to his passion for playing the drums.

Over time Joshua was drawn to and heavily influenced by funk music. Listing to all the greats such as James Brown, George Clinton, Sly and the Family Stone along with modern day artists such as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Joshua developed a definitive musical identity and was known as a talented kick-ass funk rock drummer.

Now a little bit older, wiser and musically matured Joshua has stepped up to the microphone once again and produced a 4 track debut EP that is new and fresh with an original sound only achievable through Joshua’s rhythmic foundation and natural musical embrace.
