Drawn together from opposite ends of the world, Brave New Void burst onto the music scene in Wellington, in 2014 with their unique brand of Indie rock. Regularly wowing their audiences with a powerful set of original songs whose energy, virtuosity and poignancy is testament to the passion, talent and experience of the band, it is clear that Brave New Void are something very special indeed.
Brave New Void bring together elements of soaring, jangling shoegaze guitars, a thundering rock rhythm section and soulful, heartfelt lyrics, to create a sound that is at once accessible and familiar, and yet entirely their own.
The band's first video, The Flesh Is Willing, was launched on YouTube earlier this year. A powerful fusion of shimmering guitars and thumping bass over a solid, chest-pounding dance beat, The Flesh Is Willing dares you not to dance, while angry vocals warn the listener, tongue-in-cheek, of the double-edged satisfaction of meaningless debauchery.
Brave New Void have recently completed production of their debut album, “BNV”, which features The Flesh Is Willing along with seven other original recordings – due for digital release in September 2015. The band are giving away a FREE download of album track Day Becomes Night on Soundcloud.
Brave New Void have opened for Ghostwave, Pop Will Eat Itself and The Lemonheads, as well as headlining numerous gigs in the Wellington area.
