The musical direction and philosophy behind the Del Rey System is to produce an eclectic mix of styles offering up a little bit of everything for everyone within the parameters of the electronic music world. Their 2004 album takes you on a journey from Hip-Hop to Garage to House and Latin infused flavors.
In the driving seat and the force behind Del Rey System is Dean Godward who's past achievements include being one half of the Drum & Bass duo Cuba & Gizmo, a stint in the second line up of Shayne Carter's Dimmer as the drummer, co-producing and engineering King Kapisi's Platinum selling Savage Thoughts album and producing and engineering Nesian Mystik's #1 Multi Platinum selling Polysaturated album. Dean is also the driving force behind Bounce Records.
In the making of the Del Rey System album Dean collaborates with a bunch of his friends who are also among some of New Zealand's finest talent, the likes of Dallas Tamaira, Teremoana Rapley, Godfrey De Grut, Nathan Haines, Manuel Bundy, Imon Star, Sandy Mills, Isaac Tucker, David Atai as well as internationals such as New York rapper Finster and from Japan DJ Yoichi and more.
Following on from their #1 Bnet hit Del Rey and Bnet top ten You Say featuring Teremoana Rapley and Sweet Division featuring the unmistakable vocals of Dallas Tamaira (Fat Freddy's Drop), comes the self titled album Del Rey System.
