Taupo based False Heights don’t want to settle for breaking the glass ceiling. They want to explode through it, as they leave a trail of captivating songs in their wake.
April and Ashley Pirie are the driving forces behind the definitive pop punk duo which is False Heights, and with a string of successful tracks already under their belt, they are set to take the NZ music world by storm.
Born in the midst of 2016 when Ashley’s musical backing came to April’s rescue for an unexpected festival booking, False Heights’ sound is best described as being punk rock with pop sensibilities.
Known for bringing a theatrical alternative edge to the mainstream world, and influenced by the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Paramore, The Cranberries, Blink 182 and A Perfect Circle, False Heights consistently breaks through barriers with each new track released. In 2022, their eclectic EP Too Afraid To Try established a rapidly growing audience, who embraced their "symphony of music" (Stuff NZ) and "catchy rhythm and tight sound (Muzic.NZ).
Joined on stage with an array of session musicians, their fierce, high-energy shows have seen them open for Pat Benatar, Stone Temple Pilots and ZZ Top, as well as featuring in the lineup of popular NZ music festivals Rhythm and Vines, Tauranga Fringe and Sanctuary Sounds.
Authentic, compelling, and undeniably ambitious, False Heights’ recent singles Inside Your Head, A Little Bit More, and their rendition of The Cranberries’ Zombie prove that they have no intention of slowing down.
With a new album being unleashed on the world this coming 2025, False Heights are a band worth watching.
