The Preservatives are a young band, born in Lyttleton and raised on the Christchurch covers band circuit. Over the last two years they have directed their attention re-jigging classic rock and blues tunes for a modern audience. Playing the hits you remember from bands like The Doors, Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones as well as the songs that should have been famous from Count Five, The Animals and The Allman Brothers Band. Throw some improvised jams, funky breakdowns and a few standalone originals in the mix and you have yourself an energetic five-piece willing to push the boundaries of their music and have fun while they do it. For these young men, seemingly born in the wrong era, every performance is a chance to try something new and bring joy to the people. Despite their name, The Preservatives are nothing but fresh.
