Planet of the Dead

Bio

Planet of the Dead are a cosmic doom metal band from Wellington.

After forming in 2018 the band went from strength to strength in 2019, culminating with a support slot for legendary New Orleans noise merchants Eyehategod.

Their debut album, Fear of a Dead Planet, was released 9th February, 2020 and clocked up over 10,000 views on YouTube within days.

“Fear Of A Dead Planet engulfs listeners in a maelstrom of massive-scale riffage and pounding rhythms, with Mark Mundell's growling vocals howling into the eerie cosmic beyond.” - Under the Radar, 10th February, 2020

They draw inspiration from classic science fiction and horror, and push supermassive riffs to the outer limits. If you like your metal with an emphasis on the heavy, here’s your new favourite band.

Band Members:
Mark Mundell (vocals)
Malcolm McKenzie (guitar)
Kees Hengst (bass)
Dion Harris (drums)

I've had the pleasure of doing promo shoot and shooting these guys live a couple of times. Their music is kick-ass, the album is amazing and they are all just flat out great guys! Rock On!
