"Wow, what a voice... Just good soul music" - Gilles Peterson
"Top-notch vocal execution by Wallace, who sings from deep within her gut, without the excessive vocal-chord theatrics of Beyonce, and just as good" - Indie Shuffle
"... this is something altogether different and new... Wallace was clearly in her element, her hip-shaking moves as smooth and sassy as her delivery, effortless trills lacing her honeyed vocals." - The Music
New Zealand has been a strong breeding ground for neo-soul artists over the years, with names like Kimbra, Electric Wire Hustle and Fat Freddy's Drop all gaining international acclaim. With all that rich history filling her veins, the now Sydney-based Kiwi might just be the next in line to find success.
Wallace is a refreshing talent, whose music is a mosaic of jazz, blues, hip-hop and soul. Her trademark jazz-influenced, soulful vocal and magnetic presence are a marker of a dynamic artist who vibrantly creates music which showcases her absorbing vocals and clever songwriting. Her lyrics are often influenced by literature, evident through the intricate wordplay she weaves to create poignant stories.
Her talents have seen her working with Dutch legends Kraak & Smaak, Australian hip-hop staples Thundamentals, touring and creating with young Zambian born, Australian-based rapper Sampa The Great, laying vocals over beats by Adventures of Godriguez, and working closely with producer Simon Cohen (producer of Justin Bieber's global #1 Song Love Yourself).
Wallace has toured with Little Simz (UK), Lemaitre (NOR), Electric Wire Hustle (NZ), Masego (USA), Gabriel Garzon Montano (USA), Jordan Rakei (AU, UK), Winston Surfshirt, Ngaiire, The Kite String Tangle, Kllo, as well playing to crowds at Australian festivals such as Listen Out Festival, Lost Paradise, St Kilda Fest, Hills Are Alive, Bigsound, Secret Garden + Bigsound to name a few.
