Bio

Kitset Empire is a moniker of Gareth Andrewes, an experimental guitarist based in NZ. Originally a solo recording project, soon after the release of the instrumental album Oneself and The Abstract World in 2024, Kitset Empire evolved into a live duo with the addition of Kim Leach on drums.

Kitset Empire is a vehicle for experimentation and exists outside of the constraints of mainstream capitalist pop structure. Kitset Empire is about feeling vs thinking, art vs commodity. It is about liberation, joy in play, and letting go.
