Kath Bee

Bio

Kath Bee has written some of NZ’s most loved children’s songs including Individuality, Dad I Wanna Be A Camel, Sprinkle A Little Sunshine and most recently the 2022 APRA NZ Best Children’s Song winner, E Tu Tangata - Stand Together which is making its way into every school across Aotearoa.

Kath is a multi-award-winning songwriter, with a career spanning over 20 years and has toured NZ extensively, performing everywhere from Primary Schools and libraries to Teddy Bears’ Picnics, Music Festivals and everywhere in between. She is also a published author of three picture books 'Dragons Under My Bed' 2017, 'Dougal the Dancing Kakapo' 2023 and 'I Can Co It!' 2024.

Kath was hand-picked to write songs for TVNZ’s Poppet Stars, commissioned to write songs for several organisations including E Tu Tangata, as well as individual schools and ECCs and most recently Sing Up in the UK. She has over 90 songs on online platforms and has around 90K unique monthly listeners on Spotify.

She produces and hosts her own Radio Show, 'The Kids' Mix', playing on FreshFM and 5 other Community Radio Stations around NZ. Her show is one of the most streamed shows on FreshFM with around 300 monthly streams.

Kath’s passion is writing songs for the 5-10 year age group, which makes her quite unique. “I love the challenge of writing a song that spans the ages, one that a 10 year old will love as much as a 5 year old.” She can, however, write songs for any age and frequently performs at preschools, singing her songs for the under 5 age group.

Kath is a 'with them', not 'at them', performer who engages and connects with her audience. Kath's live shows are interactive, uplifting and loads of fun!

She has a very real and genuine way with kids and a knack for crafting intelligent, thoughtful songs that resonate with children of all ages. Her songs speak to the very heart of a child, her clever lyrics grab a child’s attention and her melodies stick for years. “Oh and adults enjoy them too!”
