Danny Rascal got his live music introduction in 1993 at the age of 20, playing guitar with the short lived project, Human Eyes, which featured US born singer/guitarist Danny Ortiz (formerly of legendary punk pioneers TSOL) and bass guitarist Gavin Beardsmore (Red Adair/Space Waltz/Alistair Riddle Band). The band had success on US College Radio, and toured NZ and US venues over their 9 month life span.
Over the past 30 years, Danny has been the driving force behind 3 successful New Zealand bands… from the chart topping, award winning, bouncy Ska Punk of Monkey Puzzle, through the classic rock of Faster She Said (Winners of 2017 World Battle of the Bands), to the Power Pop/Punk/Rock crossover of The Rascal Kings, as well working as a session musician for Grammy nominated US artists.
Danny has crafted a legacy of catchy, hook laden tunes which have finally been compiled on to an album that is part 'Best Of' and part 'Anthology' and a precursor release to his upcoming debut solo album.
With a live career comprising appearances at major events including Planet X, X-Games, Vodafone X-Air, Wanaka Big Air, QuikSilver Boardriders, NZ Surf Nationals, to Headlining major events like Queenstown Winterfest to an audience of 30k people, and NZI Rugby 7’s Courtney Place Street Party to 12k people, Headline shows in Las Vegas, as well as supporting NZ and International artists, such as, HLAH, Weta, The Datsuns, Luger Boa, Devilskin, LA Guns, Quiet Riot, Buckcherry, and Creed.
