The Boxcar Guitars
Bio
Alternative country style, they've supported The Tokey Tones at the Classic last year, Evan Dando (ex Lemonheads) at the Dogs Bollix, Jay Farrar (ex Uncle Tupelo) and Fur Patrol.
Two songs have been demo'd so far: 'Medication Song' and 'My Love Is Blue'.
The band features Boxcar Benny (who is part of The Radio Kings, Shaft and Bic Runga's band), Kari (ex-drummer for The Brunettes and The Tokey Tones), Marcus (bassist with The Demi Whores) and John (ex-guitarist for Shaft who has also performed with Don McGlashan's band).
The Boxcar Guitars disbanded in late 2005.

Boxcar Guitar News Posted: Sat Apr 30, 2005 10:46 am Marcus has returned!!! We say bye bye and a big thanks to Nathan Means (Trans Am who's been filling in as bassist since December last year) and welcome Marcus back into the fold. Live This Thursday (5 May) 'The Guitars' are playing with Shaft at the AUT student bar Vesbar. It's free (to everyone), the drinks are cheaper and it'll be all over by 11.30pm, they are on first... Recordings Work is almost finished (at Arch Hill Studios) for a six (or seven) song ep to be released in July on Arch Hill it'll feature a version of 'My Love Is Blue' with all the bells and whistles (thanks NZONAIR), the demo version that went to the bnet/Z, two new studio songs and a couple of live songs. Planning starts on the recording of a debut album starts tonight at 7pm. |
